Remingtons Shute, Montville
In 1887, the first settlers came to Montville and started clearing the land, “Shutes” such as Remingtons were used to slide the huge logs down the mountain to Bullock teams waiting at the bottom.
Today, the wheel has turned from farming to tourism and “Remington’s Shute” is now the site of our luxurious guest accommodation, revegetated with native & rainforest trees and alive with wildlife including possums and an array of birds.
Our accommodation buildings were inspired by our history and built using a “rustic theme”, recycled timbers and a design that replicates that of the early settlers cottages, they were completed in 2009.
Our future includes plans to open a walking track along the shute for our guests to explore & enjoy …
Scott & Jodie Faulkner, we are classic “treechangers” and together with our 3 daughters we moved to Queensland from Northern NSW in 2005 to enjoy the beautiful hinterland lifestyle and establish our B & B.
